In search of snow

My daughter has never seen snow. She has experienced the cold of winter, but none of our previous trips took us anywhere nearer to snow than being able to see snow-capped mountains in the distance. To remedy this, my kids and I decided to seek out snow over my birthday weekend. At the suggestion of a friend we packed our winter clothes and went to Furano, Japan - on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. It turns out late November, early December, was too early in the snow season and we found little more than clods of ice (which my daughter threw at me anyway).

Here are some of my photos of our trip.
