On a late spring business trip to Manila, Philippines, I organized both meetings and indulgent food excursions for my four colleagues. Welcome to my world.
We were supposed to stay in the same hotel, but circumstances meant we were slightly spread out. But The Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences (Salcedo Village, 119 L.P. Leviste Street, Makati, 1227 Metro Manila, Philippines) in Salcedo Village was home to a couple of us and our collection point.
Given the business nature of the trip, I won't bore you with the many meetings we were engaged in. But here are our culinary, and a couple (when I could remember them) bar experiences as well:
Toby's Estate Coffee Roasters (G/F V Corporate Center, L.P. Leviste Street, Salcedo Village, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines)
Romulo Café (148 Jupiter, Philippines, Makati, 1209 Metro Manila, Philippines)
Mijo Comfort Food (F, 2, 4987 P. Guanzon, Poblacion, Makati, 1210 Metro Manila, Philippines)
Caruso Ristorante Italiano (Ground floor, LRI Design Plaza, 210 Nicanor Garcia, Makati, 1209 Metro Manila, Philippines)
Dr. Wine (5921 Algier, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines)
Pablo Bistro (Salcedo Village, G/F The Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences, 117, 119 L.P. Leviste Street, Makati, 1227 Metro Manila, Philippines)
The Spirits Library (4963 Guerrero, Makati, 1210 Metro Manila, Philippines)
Oto (5883 Enriquez, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines)
Agimat at Ugat Foraging Bar and Kitchen (5972 Alfonso, cor Fermina, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines)
As with so many of these business trips, this one was chock-full of work, yet generously interspersed with substantial culinary delights and a fair share of wine, whiskey, and cocktails. Thankfully, we all survived the rigorous schedule, enriched both professionally and gastronomically. I'm already looking forward to planning next year's outing, anticipating another round of challenging projects complemented by even more exploratory tastes and toasts.
